The year 2022 saw the emergence of the new trend of commencing advance booking weeks before the release. The Marvel film Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness (2022) was the first one to begin ticket sales 28 days before the release of the film. Later the bookings of Thor Love And Thunder (2022) Avatar The Way Of Water (2022) etc also began very early.
But now Universal Studios which is backing Fast X has gone a step ahead. The advance booking of the film was thrown open today. Interestingly it releases in cinemas on May 19. In other words Fast X’s advance booking has been opened more than three months before its release in cinemas.
A source told Bollywood Hungama The idea is to grab eyeballs with this step. Also Fast X belongs to the Fast And Furious franchise which is very popular among the classes as well as the masses in India.
The bookings of Fast X have been opened only in special formats like IMAX, 4DX Screen X MX4D PXL etc. Not just English but tickets for the Hindi version are also available.
Fast X is the tenth film in the Fast And Furious series. It stars Vin Diesel in the lead role along with Michelle Rodriguez Tyrese Gibson Chris Bridges Nathalie Emmanuel Sung Kang and others. The late Paul Walker was also an important part of the series. Fast And Furious 7 (2015) was his last film and it worked big time in India collecting Rs. 108 crores. Fast And Furious 8 (2017) meanwhile was also a huge grosser collecting Rs. 86.23 crores. Fast And Furious 9: The Fast Saga (2021) however didn’t do well in India due to delayed release Covid restrictions and mixed word of mouth. It ended up collecting only Rs. 13.61 crores.
A trade expert said Fast X has the potential to work as the trailer has been well received and it promises lots of action and chase scenes. Moreover Jason Momoa who is known to play the superhero Aquaman is essaying the villain in the tenth part. His casting and his face off with Vin Diesel have further heightened the expectations. The trade is hoping a lot from Fast X as it will be a rare Hollywood film of 2023 that can cross the Rs. 100 crores mark.
