With fans preparing for Liam Hemsworth's eventual debut on The Witcher one deep fake artist offered a hint at what to expect by reimagining Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia.
Matthew Anthony aka Stryder HD recently posted the deep fake on YouTube putting Hemsworth's face on Cavill's Geralt during some of Cavill's notable scenes in the role. Placing Cavill's original beside the deep fake the video provides an intriguing look at what Hemsworth's actual version of Geralt may look like when he slots in as the magically enhanced monster hunter beginning in Season 4.
Fans of The Witcher have been expressing their disapproval ever since Cavill announced last October he was leaving The Witcher with Season 3 being his last. Hemsworth was simultaneously announced as his successor for Seasons 4 and 5 with Hemsworth reaffirming his fandom for the series and expressing enthusiasm over assuming the part. Reportedly creative disagreements between Cavill and Netflix were the source of the decision resulting in backlash from The Witcher fans including petitions and social media campaigns.
A New Actor for The Witcher
Cavill's decision to leave The Witcher came just weeks before it was announced that he would not return as Superman despite making a cameo as the titular superhero in Black Adam. When fans will get to see his final episodes as Geralt of Rivia is unknown considering its show runner Lauren S. Hiisrich hinted that Season 3 of The Witcher won't be finished anytime soon leading to its release coming much later this year than expected. Hissrich also suggested Season 3 could be split into two parts.
Along with The Hunger Games film franchise Hemsworth is best known for his features in Independence Day Resurgence The Expendables 2 and The Dressmaker. His most recent TV series appearance was in Most Dangerous Game which showed on the now defunct streaming service Quibi. Hemsworth had long been considered the second favorite to Cavill as Geralt of Rivia by Netflix. Though Hemsworth is penciled in for Seasons 4 and 5 recent reports indicate an uncertain future for The Witcher beyond that considering that both seasons will be filmed back to back a practice Netflix normally goes to when shooting the final seasons of shows.
