 As of this writing our Marshall University Honor Band students just returned from their trip. Of the seven students who attended, four were placed in the Wind Symphony Ensemble two in the Symphonic Band, and one in the Concert Band. On April 22, some more of our very talented band members will be attending the Regional Honor Band  and we’ll have more information on that at a later date.



Students the age of 17 or older now have the opportunity to register to vote. Those who are interested should visit Mrs. Craddock in the annex building to receive their application paper. The information needed to register includes your Social Security number your mailing address  and your political party affiliation.

The Regional Math Field Day recently took place in Vienna with eight RHS students attending. Gabe Wilkes placed as the freshman alternate and Shae Purkey as the second HS alternate.Jimmy Bostic placed first Jacob Banton fifth, Lauren Bailey sixth Isabella Bottini seventh, and Callie Shaffer ninth. These students will have the option to move on to the State Math Field Day which will be held April 22.

On Sunday February 12, some of the track and field athletes attended a pre-season meet in Marietta Ohio. Aydin Domico placed fourth for the 55-meter dash. Alex Guo placed 18th for the boys 400-meter dash finals. Connor Casto was first in the boys high jump finals. In the boys shot-put finals Frankie Winter placed first, as well as in the boys weight throw finals. In eightth place for the girls 55-meter dash finals was Opal Huffman, as well as sixth place for the girls 55-meter hurdles finals. Aubrey Cox placed 18th in the girls 200-meter dash finals and fourth in the girls 400-meter dash finals. In the girls 800-meter run finals Ellie Hosaflook placed third. Congratulations to all of these student athletes on their achievements.

The girls’ basketball team sadly suffered a loss against Lewis on Saturday  Feb. 11. The score was 48 51  dropping their record to 16-5. Their next game will be a home game tonight against Point Pleasant. The boys basketball team won by a point against Scott High School during the same weekend, 54-53 and they improved to 16-2. They will play tonight against Ravenswood.

This past Friday the FFA held their annual banquet at Ripley High School. As mentioned in one of our previous articles  the attendance was made up of FFA members, their families organization sponsors, and members of other agricultural organizations in the area.
