The stars of Teen Wolf are pushing hard for a spin off, and it's not what you'd expect. Teen Wolf The Movie recently revived the MTV franchise, which had been dormant since the supernatural drama series ended in 2017. The movie offers the chance to catch up with Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) and his friends, allowing for some adjustments to some of the show's controversial story lines. But on the other hand, the follow-up film also provided some new developments that garnered sharply divided responses.
While not directly setting up a sequel or spinoff Teen Wolf The Movie does conclude in a way that leaves the door open for future stories that are set in the same universe. During an appearance on the Howler Back Now podcast Ian Bohen (who plays Peter Hale) told host and Teen Wolf co-star Holland Roden that he's pushing hard for a spinoff focused on Peter and Chris Agent (JR Bourne). In the quote below, Bohen mentions that the project would involve flashbacks and history and would hopefully involve Tyler Hoechlin's Derek Hale. He also says that we’re going to start beating down doors until they let us do it
Well yeah so that’s something that Jr. and I talk about all the time. And I guess the cat is out of the bag. We are looking hard at making a spin-off about Peter Hale and Argent. Oh and obviously I want Hoechlin to participate. He’s very busy these days but we think we can lure him over to play. We would like to shoot it overseas and put some, you know some flashbacks and some history into it since these are sort of kind ofso that is what I would like to flesh out because the adults did not get enough fleshing out.
Because there’s just too many people to do that. So yeah so that’s what J. and I are talking about nonstop. And we’re going to work hard for that. If you guys are interested in that like you know yeah. Like Hale-Argent spin off. Argent-Hale. Something like that, because we’re going to start beating down doors until they let us do it.
Other Possible Teen Wolf Spin offs
Teen Wolf The Movie does tell a largely self-contained story about the return of Allison (Crystal Reed) while showing what the characters have been up to and resurrecting one of the show's most effective villains. But it does end with the tease of Eli Hale (Vince Mattis) the son of Derek, could carry the franchise forward. Derek dies essentially sacrificing himself near the end of the movie and there's an easy follow up in Scott and Allison raising their young wolf in a potentially supporting capacity.
