According to Finn Wolfhard the Stranger Things cast is like family which means they support each other. Wolfhard commented on co star Noah Schnapp's recent coming out with love saying he's proud of him.
Stranger Things centers around the town of Hawkins Indiana where unbeknownst to the populace the government has set up a secret lab that attracts strange phenomena. Wolfhard portrays Mike Wheeler the leader of his friend group while Schnapp portrays Will Byers Mike's best friend and the impetus for much of the series plot. Like Will who came to terms with his sexuality last season Schnapp recently came out as gay.
In a new interview with GQ Wolfhard talked about being ready for Stranger Things to end but spoke fondly of the cast and his experiences. We’re not on everyday text vibes in any way and not becaus it’s like Wolfhard explained. Do you text your cousins every day. Probably not. They’re our family. We’ll talk on each other’s birthdays. We’ll talk once in a while. But in the same way that family works if I ever needed anything they’re there. When asked about Schnapp's coming out Wolfhard said When I saw it I just had a big smile on my face. I was just really proud of him.
Wolfhard has reason to be ready to move on from Stranger Things he's preparing for plenty of future projects. Not only did his film When You Finish Saving the World recently come out in theaters Wolfhard's set to co direct his horror comedy. The plot is under wraps but alongside his Ghostbusters Afterlife co-star Billy Bryk Wolfhard will direct other up and coming actors like Fred Hechinger Abby Quinn Pardis Saremi and D'Pharaoh Woon A Tai.
For his part Schnapp has been chatty about his role in the upcoming final season of Stranger Things. Schnapp has made it clear that Will is a major fixture in Stranger Things season 5 explaining that the series began with him and would end with him. That means Will's insecurities particularly about his sexuality will probably be a major part of the final season. With a villain like Vecna Jamie Campbell Bower running around Will also has plenty of trauma to feed off.
Schnapp revealed he starts shooting Stranger Things season 5 this May so there will be a bit of a wait for fans of the series. Filming for the series is a several month long affair and that does not include the special effects music and other production that has to go into the series. From what's been revealed it looks like season 5 is set to be the biggest yet so Schnapp and Wolfhard have a lot to look forward to.
