Jerry Seinfeld believes in the power of process and routine in doing the little things right over and over again. He refuses to believe in quality time. For Seinfeld success isn't about the money which is easier to say when the show you created has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in syndication revenue but still for him success lies in the work itself That's it for me solitude and precision refining a tiny thing for the sake of it.
And oddly enough, success is also about suffering. Whenever he does something stressful something difficult something mentally or physically challenging, he mentally re frames the pain he feels.
Pain is knowledge rushing in to fill a void.
You don't know that that post of your bed was not where you thought it was but when your foot hits it, that knowledge is going to come rushing in really fast and it's going to really hurt when your foot hits that post. because that was a piece of knowledge that you didn't have that you're going to get.
Most successful entrepreneurs are the product of pain Bootstrapping. Sacrificing. Scraping and clawing and fighting and never ever giving up even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.Their early struggles forge resolve. Their early struggles forge perseverance.
Their early struggles create a void that knowledge rushed to fill.
Every successful entrepreneur I know says they wouldn't trade those early days of incredible struggle and effort and suffering for anything. What they learned about themselves not only carries them through the tough times but also gives them the confidence to not just think but know they can do more than they ever imagined possible no matter what challenges they may face.
Be grateful for the struggle. Be grateful for the suffering. Be grateful for the pain, and for the knowledge it provides.Because someday it will pay off and often in ways you could never have expected.
